Every single purchase you make has a real purpose. Nurturing the minds of tomorrow’s farmers, scientists, mechanics and teachers, while taking care of the precious resources they’ll count on in years to come.

Supporting Children’s Education
VENT is proud to be supporting School in a Bag, an inspiring UK charity dedicated to giving children around the world access to the tools they need to learn, thrive and build brighter futures.
Since launching in 2008, School in a Bag has grown into an internationally recognized charity, providing practical educational support to children facing poverty, displacement, conflict and disaster.
The School in a Bag Concept
Their simple but powerful solution is a practical backpack filled with essential learning resources, including stationery, pens, pencils, exercise books, maths equipment, hygiene products and eating utensils. For many children, these basic items can mean the difference between attending school or missing out on education altogether.

Our Mission

Precious Planet
The environment sits at the heart of everything we do. From recycled pencils to FSC® certified paper, we’re constantly striving to create stylish stationery you’ll love and that positively impacts the planet.

Education Empowers
Many children around the world are being deprived of the education they deserve. We exist to make their future a little brighter.

Children Matter
We believe in people. We invest in children. We hope you share our passion for nurturing the minds of tomorrow’s farmers, scientists, mechanics and teachers.

You Buy, We Give
We don’t give on a profit basis, these days they’re hard to come by! Instead, every time you buy we give. Which means every single purchase you make has a real purpose.
In 2014 environmental entrepreneur Evan Lewis, bought an ageing run-down facility producing pencils from recycled CD cases. After 18 months of improvements the team made were producing an additional one million pencils a year.
At the time there was a string of devastating natural and man-made disasters effecting children worldwide, especially their education.
“Pencils are the most iconic educational tool going back centuries and I wanted to do something with them, something inspirational.” Evan Lewis Founder
After months of research with NGOs and charities it was clear education was a priority the world over. Evan had a potential one million spare pencils being produced each year, but the key was money. Money to rebuild schools, pay teachers and provide essential materials. Evan decided to sell his pencils and other stationery here in the UK and from the proceeds support existing education projects around the world.
Evan also launched Share a Pencil Day, a global education awareness day for UK school children. And his Ambassador for Change programme which provided free pencils to charities and volunteers working overseas. Pencils to be given out FREE to those that need them most.

How it works
Today, School in a Bag has distributed more than 150,000 schoolbags to children across more than 55 countries worldwide. The charity works with trusted local partners to ensure support reaches children who need it most, whether they are living in remote communities, refugee camps or regions recovering from conflict and natural disasters. Every bag is designed to give a child the confidence, resources and opportunity to learn, helping to create a pathway out of poverty and towards a more hopeful future
Where it began
School in a Bag was founded by Luke Simon, whose life changed forever following the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami on Boxing Day 2004. Luke survived the disaster, but tragically lost his brother, Piers. In the aftermath, Luke and his family established the Piers Simon Appeal in his brother’s memory, initially supporting communities affected by natural disasters. Through their work, with charities like Shelter Box, Luke saw first-hand how access to education could help children rebuild their lives and create opportunities for the future. From that vision, School in a Bag was born
